Are you a motivated and creative MSc student looking for an exciting research internship position?
Project description: we have an internship position within the NC-CHOICE project where we study the extracellular vesicles derived from the nucleus pulposus and their regenerative potential, as a potential therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration.
For this internship project, you will perform tissues collection from porcine cadavers, extracellular vesicles isolation, and 3D model cell culture. The aim is to isolate and characterize the extracellular vesicles present within the nucleus pulposus and test their regenerative potential on a 3D model of degenerated intervertebral disc.
You will experience:
- cadaveric tissue collection
- cell and tissue culture techniques
- histological techniques (tissue processing, sectioning, biochemical staining and immunohistochemistry)
- biochemical assays and PCR
- confocal microscopy
Supervisor: Daniele Corraini
Preferred starting date: to be discussed
Duration: at least 6 to 12 months
Eligibility: students enrolled at Utrecht University studying Regenerative Medicine and Technology (RMT), Biofabrication, Biology of Disease (BoD), Bio Inspired Innovation (BII), or Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences (MCLS) have priority. Technical Medicine or Biomedical Engineering students are also welcome to apply.
