Frank Riemers graduated from the Hogeschool Utrecht (HU) in 1998 with a Bachelor of Life Sciences (HLO). After his graduation, he worked for three years in the pharmacology department at VU Amsterdam in the experimental neurology research group working on Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease with Dr F.L.van Muiswinkel. In 2001 he moved to the lab of Dr J.A.Mol at the faculty of veterinary medicine, department of clinical sciences of companion animals at Utrecht University researching mammary cancer until 2006, after which he switched to tissue repair research with Dr L.C.Penning and in 2008 to the orthopaedic research group of prof. Dr M.A.Tryfonidou. He employed his wet-lab skills in several techniques mainly focusing on RNA and protein expression (ao RNA isolation, qPCR, western blotting) and performs the downstream data and bioinformatic analysis.

After he obtained his Master of Bioinformatics and Systems biology from UVA/VU Amsterdam in 2019 he is currently full-time involved in two projects as a bioinformatician, the European iPSpine project of prof. Dr M.A.Tryfonidou and the KWF project “Unraveling cell-to-cell heterogeneity in the molecular defence against DNA replication stress with single-cell technology.” of Dr B. Westendorp.
